Episode Description

The first step is the hardest. This is true for many children with ADHD who perpetually struggle to get started on classwork or homework. They procrastinate, put it off, and sometimes avoid their work altogether — perhaps because they feel overwhelmed, not confident in their skills, or mentally fatigued from a day of executive-function demands. The trick to getting started for many students is feeling ready — emotionally, physically, and mentally — to begin. The problem: This essential preparation feels a lot like work for many kids, who avoid it at all costs.
