“Improve Your Child’s Social Smarts with YouTube, Video & Board Games” [Video Replay & Podcast #226]

In this hour-long webinar-on-demand, learn how to use YouTube videos to teach social skills with Anna Vagin, Ph.D.

Episode Description

Core Curriculum Standards have one problematic, underlying assumption: Students understand, and can demonstrate, cooperative learning skills. In addition to staying focused and on-task, a child participating in small-group cooperation must practice self-regulation, stay open to the ideas of others, express his or her opinions in a friendly way, and consider the perspectives and feelings of others. These are the same skills that many children with ADHD trip over — and that make living with family members easier!

Make sure your child has a firm grasp of these skills as the new school year begins by using YouTube videos and popular tabletop games to learn social concepts.

In this webinar, you will learn:

    1. the challenges of meeting Core Curriculum Standards for kids with ADHD
    2. why cooperation can be tough for students with ADHD, in and out of the classroom
    3. how to use engaging YouTube videos as family entertainment and to review important social concepts
    4. how to use simple visual supports to help students build their skill sets — and to help parents reduce their nagging
    5. simple strategies to support your child as he learns social skills
