“How ADHD Shortens Life Expectancy: What Parents and Doctors Need to Know to Take Action” [Video Replay & Podcast #244]

In this hour long webinar on-demand, learn about the impact of ADHD on health outcomes with Russell Barkley, Ph.D.

Episode Description

Most parents raising a child with ADHD know that the disorder may lead to poor performance in school, failed friendships, and rampant disorganization. However, very few parents and clinicians know that ADHD predisposes children and young adults to increased health and medical risks that may shorten their life expectancy. ADHD behaviors and personality traits like impulsivity, poor emotional control, and sensory- or risk-seeking behaviors may result in health problems and premature death.

Research shows that that most effective way to reverse this disturbing trend is early diagnosis and treatment of ADHD with medication and evidence-based psychosocial treatments like cognitive behavioral therapy.
