Episode Description

ADHD and dyslexia are separate conditions that often co-occur. In fact, it is estimated that about half of people with ADHD also have a learning disorder, the most common of which is dyslexia.

ADHD is a neurological condition characterized by inattention, distractibility, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity. Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability characterized by difficulties with accurate and fluent word recognition, spelling, and reading decoding. Although the two share some common traits, they are distinctly different. Proper assessment to identify and differentiate both conditions is critical.

In this webinar, we will discuss both ADHD and dyslexia, symptoms they may have in common, and ways in which they differ. We will also discuss treatment implications if both dyslexia and ADHD are present.

This webinar will also cover the following:

  • Key signs and traits of ADHD and dyslexia
  • Differences between ADHD and dyslexia
  • How children with both conditions differ from those with just one or the other
  • Effective interventions for children with co-occurring ADHD and dyslexia
