While stimulants are highly effective for treating ADHD, they are also commonly misused, particularly among college students, raising questions about treatment options for people with a history of substance abuse. This webinar will explain treatment options and interventions for people with ADHD and SUD, and it will address questions about the safety and efficacy of stimulant use in people with these comorbidities.

Meet the Expert Speaker:

Timothy Wilens, M.D., is an associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School in Boston and a psychiatrist at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Wilens’ research interests include the relationship between ADHD, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders; and the treatment of ADHD, substance use disorders, and juvenile bipolar disorder across the lifespan. He also studies the misuse of stimulant and other prescription medications as well as the implementation of screening in behavioral health clinics. His peer-reviewed articles are published in prestigious journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association, American Journal of Psychiatry, and Pediatrics.
